Matthew 6:19-21

19.‘Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; 20.but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21.For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

I worked so hard to gather up wood to burn in my fireplace. I gathered up much more wood than I would need. I used some it that winter and carefully stored the remainder. That way I would be sure to have some next year. The next fall I went to the woodpile to get some for a fire and discovered that there was nothing there but the refuse that the insects and the rot left. There was nothing for the fireplace. I would have been better off if I had just gotten enough for the one winter.

It kind of reminds me of the manna that God sent down to the Israelites and God's instructions to them for its harvest and consumption.
