I have one row of frozen beets in my garden right now. I did not think that it would get cold enough to hurt them and maybe it hasn't. I am going to harvest the leaves today. They make a great cooked green that is somewhere between the beet root and spinach in flavor. My mother used to cook them whenever we harvested them for the roots.
Other than the beets, my gardening is in the planning and dreaming stage. I am in the process of digging up a small area of new ground that may or may not be planted this spring. I realized, after I began, that it is going to be shaded for most of the day when the trees are leafed out. We are going to see what we can do with it as spring gets nearer.
I will be reporting on my garden occasionally but I don't want to be boring about it. I will be thinking about some books that have been helpful to me.
